The Wildlings In-Home Childcare is a fully licenced Early Childhood Education service, located in South Auckland. Children are supported by an educator, in the educators home, allowing for an easier transition into early childhood care, as the home environment reflects that of the child’s. We believe every child deserves an education which facilitates their unique academic, developmental, and social growth, through a variety experiences that only a home-based service can provide.
Early learning at The Wildings In-Home Childcare and learning within a home allows time for children to explore their curiosity, a time to learn while playing and a time of rapid growth and development. Children learn in a home environment filled with toys and resources to support your child’s development. And, have the opportunity to explore the community through excursions and walks, playgroups, and regular outings with other Wildlings educators and children, and learn through hands on experiences within the home.
Why Choose Home Based?
Having your child with a home-based educator, allows for a smoother transition for children into care, as the home-based environment and lower child numbers, more closely resemble their own home environment. This helps support children’s wellbeing and gives educators more one on one time with children, allowing them to truly understand your child’s individual needs. Children are able to engage with their friends at both the educators home, and outings to regularly held, The Wildlings playgroups and events.

Why Choose The Wildlings?
The Wildlings In-Home is a small organisation, where educators, the management team, and whānau are a community. Becoming part of the community assures peace of mind to families, knowing their tamariki will be cared for. The Wildlings offers regular play groups and group events for Educators and tamariki, including quarterly outings, and ‘summer serious’ outings which make use of the warmer summer months. These outings have included outings to the Auckland Zoo, MOTAT, swimming pools, and the Botanical Gardens.
The Wildlings offer:
- An uncommon seven day licence, allowing our Educators to work weekends, if they choose
- OSCAR for school aged tamariki, allowing older siblings to be cared for by the same Educator as younger children, out of school hours and during holidays.
- Regular playgroups in the local community, including regular Mindful Movement for Mana sessions
- Regular outings, at no extra cost to parents
- A Storypark account, so you can track your child’s learning and stay connected with what they’re learning
- Passionate Educators, dedicated to making a positive difference in your child’s life
About Our Educators
All of our educators have or are studying towards a minimum of a Level 4 Certificate in Early Childhood Education. This ensures they have an understanding of child development, and licencing requirements. They also all hold first aid certificates and are fully police vetted. To ensure they are fully supported, a visiting teacher is always available for a call, and meets regularly with Educators in person. Our Educators are based in the South Auckland and Franklin area, and we are always looking for people interested in becoming an educator.
FAQ About Home Based

Educators set their own hourly fees, which are typically between $7-10 per child, per hour, depending on the experience of the educator. Depending on your situation, you may also be entitled to receiving WINZ support to help with the cost of childcare.
If all of our educators are full, we can add you to a waitlist for when vacancies arise. We are always on the look out for more educators as we understand how important this is for your tamariki.
Certainly not. All educators are required to study to learn more about early childhood education, and some educators are fully registered teachers who have chosen home-based so they can care for their own tamariki at the same time. Having smaller ratios of children to educators, allows educators to better focus their time on your child and their developmental needs.
If you don’t already know which educator you wish to go with, contact The Wildlings, to learn about our educators availability and locations. They can help arrange a meeting for you to meet the educator in their home. If you know what educator you are wanting to go with, your educator can support you with enrolling.
